

KNOWLEDGE HUB
The UK has long been at the forefront of global developments in the field of quantum technologies. This position has only been strengthened since the inception of the national quantum technologies programme (NQTP) and the substantial investment that has supported its rollout. The Knowledge Hub is a depository of resources from across the UK ecosystem, bringing together relevant resources and learning materials that showcase how quantum technologies are positively transforming industry and the wider society through innovation. By collating and curating content from the five national Quantum Technology Hubs and the wider quantum landscape, Quantum City provides resources for all audiences, as well as news and events, quantum career guidance, and examples of best practice in STEM outreach.

Activities for Public Engagement in Quantum Computing - Public Engagement in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science
Public Engagement in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science is a community of practice funded by EPSRC based at Queen Mary University of London. Their website brings together a wide range of public engagement materials, including learning resources, activities, talks, videos, podcasts and outreach ideas designed to help wider audiences explore and understand quantum computing.

Professor Sir Peter Knight on quantum technologies
Sir Peter Knight is a physicist renowned for his pioneering research into quantum optics. His forty years of work on the nonclassical properties of light and the theoretical underpinnings of quantum computing have established him as an influential figure within the wider UK physics community. He currently chairs the UK National Quantum Technologies Programme Strategic Advisory Board.

University of Sussex: Ion Quantum Technology Group
The University of Sussex Ion Quantum Technology (IQT) Group is a research team developing quantum computers, quantum simulators and advanced quantum sensors using trapped-ion technology. Its research aims to harness the power of quantum physics to create transformative technologies for computing, sensing and future quantum-enabled applications.
Professor Winfried Hensinger is head of the Group and serves as Director of the Sussex Centre for Quantum Technologies. This video introduces Professor Hensinger, whose story is featured in Scientists Making a Difference by Dr Shini Somara. The Royal Society Public Engagement Fund
The Royal Society Public Engagement Fund has supported Royal Society-funded early career researchers to develop and deliver public engagement activities based on their research. Grants of £500 to £5,000 have been available for single-year projects, with up to £10,000 for projects spanning two years. The fund is currently closed but is worth researching for 2027.

Royal Academy of Engineering
The Ingenious grants programme supports creative public engagement projects that raise awareness of engineering and its impact on society, particularly among diverse and underrepresented audiences, including those in disadvantaged communities across the UK. Open to schools, universities, charities, engagement professionals, arts and cultural organisations, and engineers from industry, the scheme provides funding for projects that involve engineers in their development and delivery. The programme aims to broaden perceptions of engineering, inspire new audiences, and build public engagement skills and experience within the engineering community. The fund is currently closed but is worth researching for 2027.
