Programme to support the launch of deep tech start-ups open to applications

The Quantum Technology Enterprise Centre (QTEC) welcomes applications for its new pre-incubator programme, QUEST, which will begin in October 2021. The programme, which aims to kickstart new technology ventures in the United Kingdom and beyond, will support researchers who are looking to develop deep technology companies by providing training and support to create pre-seed technology ventures.

QUEST will run twice annually with start dates in spring and autumn, supporting up to twelve businesses per cohort. The autumn cohort will have a specific focus on quantum, quantum-enabling and quantum-inspired technologies while the spring cohort will be a generalised cohort for any quantum, scientific or engineering technology.

The programme will run for six months and will take place in the Quantum Technology Innovation Centre in Bristol, it will provide a blend of in-person and online training. Participants will benefit from mentoring from respected industry leaders and will partake in regular road-mapping sessions with QTEC Entrepreneurs in Residence.

QUEST will be split into four stages: Technology Roadmaps, Markets, Customers and Business Models; Tactical Marketing, Strategic Selling, Finance & Investor Readiness; Raising Capital & Building the Business; and Launching the Business. Once launched, companies will continue to benefit from support and guidance from QTEC in order to raise additional funding and grow and develop further.

Over the past four years, QTEC has supported the development of UK’s quantum industry, supporting the creation of 28 active companies with a combined valuation of over £120 million, that have raised over £56 million in equity, grant and revenues and created over 170 new highly skilled jobs within the UK.

For more information download the QUEST brochure. You can also find further information on eligibility and how to apply on the QTEC website. Selected ventures will start the six-month programme in October 2021. To learn more, please contact qtec-enquiries@bristol.ac.uk.
